About David Gerstein

David Gerstein is a master artist with six decades of experience. He is first and foremost a painter, and he took his mastery of painting into three dimensions. His layered, double-sided metal cutouts bring painting off the wall, so the color and line keep changing as you move around them.

He is also a true pop artist. His work is full of vibrant color and everyday life: cyclists, dancers, city walkers, birds, butterflies and flowers. Above all, he captures movement in a remarkable way. His riders seem to speed past and his dancers seem to swing, and his bicycle series has become one of his best-known bodies of work around the world.

David Gerstein is widely regarded as one of the most creative and innovative artists working today, and his achievements speak for themselves. His work has been shown in international exhibitions in London, New York and Tel Aviv. In 2025 he marked his 80th birthday with Die Vierte Dimension at Galerie Ostendorff in Münster, Germany, and in 2026 he presented Spring Moments, a solo exhibition at Bruno Gallery in Singapore.

His large public sculptures bring joy to streets across Israel and in Jerusalem, including The DNA of Hadassah Hospital. Tornado, a monumental outdoor sculpture, stands in Hsinchu, Taiwan. His art has brightened billboards and city spaces, championed by Isracard and the First International Bank, and the Hebrew University commissioned him to capture the spirit of the institution through his art.

At GersteinART, the official store run by the artist's family, we share his work directly from the studio, and we're always happy to help you find a piece you love.
