Sobre el artista

David (Dudu) Gerstein nació en 1944 en Jerusalén de padres que emigraron de Polonia. La familia se mudó a Ramat Gan cuando él tenía cuatro años. Tanto él como su hermano gemelo, Jonathan (Yoni) Gerstein, mostraron talento artístico desde temprana edad. La maestra de David, Batya Uziel, lo animó a estudiar pintura.

A la edad de trece años fue enviado a un campamento artístico en Jerusalén, al que asistió durante varios veranos seguidos. En la escuela secundaria, tomó clases en el Centro de Arte Beit Zvi en Ramat Gan con Rina Balktovsky Arnon.
