Shneor Cheshin memorial sculpture by David Gerstein inaugurated in Israel

Shneor Cheshin was a cycling enthusiast and the son of the late supreme court judge Mishael Cheshin. He was killed in a hit and run accident while riding his bicycle on the roadside in Israel. The driver later turned himself in to the police and was put to trial.

The “Shanti House”  is an organisation for children and youth at risk. Mishael’s family were long time donors of the shanti house. They commissioned the monument for Shneor to be made by David Gerstein  and was erected at the Shanti House sound branch near Mitzpe Ramon in Israel’s south. The inauguration was held after a cycling tour of 180km with hundreds of participants from around the country.  The sculpture depicts a cyclist riding away with a flock of colourful birds above him. There is a sense of movement and speed as in many of Gerstein’s works.
